Delegation Checklist

DELEGATION CHECKLIST

 

CHOOSE WHAT TASKS TO DELEGATE.

  • Is there time to delegate?
  • What does the task(s) involve?
  • Is the task appropriate for the individual?
  • Has the person the capacity / skills / information / interest to execute the task?
  • Will the task enhance the individual’s work skills?

 

 

ASSIGN THE TASK TO THE INDIVIDUAL(S).

  • Allocate the necessary resources.
  • Begin with an easy task.
  • Reward the correct performance.
  • Increase task difficulty.

 

 

MODEL THE DESIRED BEHAVIOURS.

  • Provide guidance.
  • Offer support and encouragement.
  • Supervise the task.
